Artworks Presents ‘Journey to Now: A Twenty Year Retrospective’

Starting today, February 2, 2021 through March 6, 2021, Artworks of Trenton will be showcasing the works of spiritual artist Khalilah Sabree in a new exhibit titled, ‘Journey to Now: A Twenty Year Retrospective.’

Sabree filters the world through the eyes of an African-American Muslim woman and educator. Through this lens, she expresses herself in her artwork. She maintains a private studio at Artworks Trenton, and has a Master of Fine Art in Painting, from The University of The Arts, and received her B.A, from The College of New Jersey. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout the Tri-State area.

Over two decades of work has gone into this featured exhibit. Sabree’s work is heavily influenced and inspired by spiritual transformation and world issues. Her current body of work contains a variety of large scale, mixed-media paintings and drawings that tap into the styles of contemporary Islamic flavor.

Interested viewers can see Sabree’s exhibit both virtually or in-person. The live gallery is open Thursday’s through Saturday’s from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Masks are mandatory. Those interested in visiting Artworks must email the gallery at gallery@artworkstrenton.org to reserve an appointment.
